gathered sleeve blouse

gathered sleeve blouse

Pattern: Lesson 6, gathered sleeve blouse from “Sooingu hajimemasho”
Fabric: Liberty Tana Lawn in “Anemone”

This is the fourth garment I’ve sewn after having taken the Japanese Dress Books class at the Workroom.  I love the style of these patterns, and had been collecting pattern books in Japanese for the past few years so it’s nice to finally be able to make something!

This little blouse is my new favorite. The fabric is so lovely, and I used some new to me techniques, like  french seams (see this tutorial from Colette Patterns for more info).

I’m still knitting away on the rose lilac cardigan, but it’s slow going and I never feel much like knitting in the heat of the summer. There’s no rush – it’s just knitting, for pete’s sake!

Jane’s tote

One of the best parts of making things is being able to make something for friends . I made this bag for my friend Jane, who recently had a birthday. The fabric I picked really said “Jane” to me: romantic, elegant, subdued. And the lining is Jane grey.

I was so pleased to be able to make something for my friend, and doubly so when she was also pleased.
